Mother's Pearl | Copper, Enamel, Pill | $1800 4"H x 5"W x 5"D
A Mother’s Pearl combines raising, enamel, hinge making, and soldering techniques to create the clam-like vessel. While viewing Mother’s Pearl from a closed perspective, no foreshadowing exists as to what lies within the shell. When the inside is exposed it resembles a cold factory, which is producing a Prozac rather than a pearl. Mother’s Pearl is a metaphor of the existence of a society dependant on chemical substance, when in many instances a pill is not necessary to correct the problem.
